Intern Spotlight: Trincell Shelvin – Full-Stack Developer Charting Her Own Course

Intern Spotlight Series

At Tublian, we believe freelancers aren’t just gig workers—they’re creators, builders, and entrepreneurs shaping the future of work. Our Intern Spotlight series celebrates graduates of the Tublian Freelance Internship who are turning skills into independence and opportunities into impact.

This month, we’re excited to feature Trincell Shelvin*—a top graduate of our program and a full-stack developer who embodies the spirit of freedom, resilience, and imagination at the heart of freelancing.*

Trincell’s tech journey began in an unexpected place: a business curriculum class. While pursuing a Business Administration degree with a minor in Web Design, she was first introduced to coding through Dreamweaver and simple text files. That early spark stayed with her, even as her career path initially leaned more toward business and customer service.

Her freelancing journey took off with Telus International/Digital, where she served as a Photo Annotation Analyst, contributing to high-precision visual data projects while also engaging in customer service planning and digital platform development. This multifaceted experience laid the foundation for her expertise in both technical execution and user-centric design. Over the years, she accumulated 14 years of remote work experience, mastering the art of flexibility, independence, and cross-functional collaboration.

Now, after graduating from Codex Academy’s Full Stack Software Development program in February 2025, Trincell is doubling down on her developer dream.

Why Freelancing? Freedom and Adventure

For Trincell, freelancing isn’t just a career; it’s a lifestyle choice.

“My motivation for becoming a freelancer has more to do with freedom of thought, product development, the control over the work product, and my lifestyle. I’m not tied to one desk or location. I get to move around and work from anywhere.”

This philosophy guides everything she does. Being self-employed means she can combine creativity, adventure, and independence in her professional journey.

A developer who bridges business and tech

Trincell offers her clients far more than just lines of code. She delivers a holistic suite of services for startups, including:

  • Website & App Development

  • Customer Service Planning

  • AI-Powered Solutions

  • Infrastructure & Deployment

  • Client Onboarding & Training

Her approach is all about empowering clients; giving them tools and knowledge, not just finished products.

Currently, she secures gigs via LinkedIn and Upwork, but her eyes are set on a bigger horizon: launching her own business startup that combines her tech expertise with her entrepreneurial dreams.

Breaking Cycles, Building Futures

Like many developers, Trincell’s journey hasn’t been easy. Finding roles that fit has been a challenge, but instead of waiting, she’s creating her own path. Her motivation runs deep:

“That we’re stuck to our culture and upbringing. That we can’t change any of that. My family is living proof that it can be done. We don’t have to repeat the past we can rise above it and excel.”

This belief fuels her determination to not just build a career, but to break cycles and build legacies.

The Tublian Internship Experience

The Tublian Freelance Internship marked a turning point in her freelancing career. She was the best graduating student during the internship, topping the leaderboard. Two elements stood out as transformative:

  1. Real-World Problem Solving
She learned how to research issues with existing websites and applications, write code to fix them, and explain the process through video documentation, a skill that adds enormous value to her client offerings.

  2. Business Development Tools
The Tublian BizDev Agent became a powerful ally, streamlining her proposal writing and application process.

“The Biz Dev extension cut down my writing time and helped me apply for more freelance work, while also improving my planning stage with better client breakdowns.”

These lessons sharpened her efficiency and gave her the confidence to scale her freelancing practice.

Dreams Beyond Development

Trincell’s ambitions extend far beyond code. Alongside her apps and websites, she’s planning to launch a café and entertainment venue, merging her entrepreneurial spirit with her love for community spaces. It’s a unique vision—tech meets hospitality—that reflects her multifaceted talents.

She’s also focused on growth, planning to learn new programming languages, expand her frameworks expertise, and even pursue a cybersecurity clearance to broaden her service offerings.

“Stay tuned, because this is not the end, but the beginning. Café coming soon along with other developments.”

Trincell’s story wouldn’t be complete without her Louisiana roots. Her favourite comfort foods include boudin with bread and mayo, salted peanuts in a Coke, and her signature eggs with dill, red pepper flakes, black truffle sea salt, and ketchup on white bread.

Much like her career, it’s a unique blend of flavors—simple, bold, and unmistakably hers.

Final Word

From discovering Dreamweaver in 2003 to graduating from the Tublian Freelance Internship in 2025, Trincell Shelvin’s journey is a testament to persistence, creativity, and vision. She shows us that freelancing isn’t just about landing gigs—it’s about building freedom, creating opportunities, and shaping a future on your own terms.

Her story is proof that while the path may be challenging, resilience and imagination can transform it into something extraordinary.

We’re proud to celebrate Trincell’s success and can’t wait to see the café doors open, the startups launched, and the mark she will continue to make on the freelancing world.
